EMDR

EMDR
One of the specialized services we offer is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. EMDR is a powerful, evidence-based therapy that helps individuals process and heal from traumatic events and other distressing experiences.

What Does EMDR Treat?
EMDR was initially developed to treat trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). However, it has been found effective in treating various other mental health issues, including:

-
Stress
-
Anxiety
-
Depression
-
Substance abuse and addictions
-
Attachment and self-esteem issues
-
Other conditions involving emotional or physical distress

Our therapists are specially trained in EMDR, ensuring clients receive high-quality, professional care. EMDR's effectiveness lies in its structured approach to processing distressing memories and the emotional and physical symptoms associated with them.

How Does an EMDR Session Work?
During an EMDR session, clients focus on a troubling memory while identifying the emotions, physical sensations, and negative beliefs associated with that memory. For example, if a client experienced a lack of love from parents, they might feel "I am not good enough," accompanied by sadness and physical tension.

The EMDR process helps the client to reprocess the memory by imagining support or resources to deal with these negative feelings. Through this process, clients start to experience more positive emotions and self-beliefs, such as "I am good enough." This gradual shift leads to a transformation in how they perceive themselves and their past experiences.

An EMDR session involves eight phases:
1. History Taking: Gathering information about the client's history and identifying the target memories for processing.
2. Preparation: Preparing the client for the therapy, including teaching self-soothing techniques.
3. Assessment: Evaluating the specific memory to be targeted and the emotions, sensations, and beliefs associated with it.
4. Desensitization: Using eye movements to process the memory and reduce its emotional impact.
5. Installation: Strengthening positive beliefs related to the memory.
6. Body Scan: Checking for any residual physical tension related to the memory.
7. Closure: Helping the client return to a calm state at the end of each session.
8. Reassessment: Evaluating the progress in subsequent sessions.

Through these phases, clients gradually feel less stressed and more empowered. Our team is dedicated to guiding clients through each phase, ensuring they feel supported and understood throughout their healing journey.
